About The Museum

Our Mission
The Children's Museum of Alamance County will encourage children to exercise their curiosity, develop their imagination, and discover their world through exploration.
Our Vision
Our Vision is to provide environments where children and adults are given a unique opportunity to play and create together; promote learning and literacy through a wide array of multi-sensory, interactive hands-on experiences; and instill in children a greater understanding of themselves and their world, which surrounds them.
Community Impact
While serving children, our museum will also significantly impact local economic development and the overall well-being of the community. The museum is strategically positioned to spur downtown retail development through a significant annual revenue boost to the local economy. In addition, CMAC will be a recruiting asset for businesses, corporations, and professionals looking to relocate. It will attract visitors from across the Triad and the Triangle area and will be a strong attraction for tourists. The Children's Museum will become a high-profile regional education-based endeavor.
Heritage and Education
"Alamance County doesn't know what a gift they are about to give themselves," said Pat Harman of the Hayden-Harman Foundation in 2007. Phoebe and Pat Harman were indispensible to our overall museum's beginnings and development. From that initial stage, we've been able to provide the community with an educational and interactive museum that caters to children from birth to age 10, their families and caregivers by encouraging learning through creative play.
Born from grassroots efforts, the people and organizations in our community believe CMAC is vital to the ongoing efforts to make Graham, North Carolina a historical and educational haven for all families. We strive to offer our visitors an impression of Alamance County's history, people, and culture - from our textile and railroad beginnings, significance in agriculture, the creative arts, literacy and the empowerment this knowledge can provide to our children. As a result of the many individual's hard work and continuing efforts, the Children's Museum of Alamance County will be, in every way, a unique community museum that continues to grow based on the enthusiasms and contributions of our community.
